Ingredients Needed

  • Chocolate graham crackers
  • Peppermint marshmallows – I feel like availability changes year to year. This year I found these cute mid-sized mallows at Target.
  • Peppermint-flavored chocolate– I like the Ghirardelli squares of peppermint bark- it’s the perfect size!

How to Make Indoor Peppermint S’Mores

This is a simple overview of the recipe, you’ll find a full printable recipe below!

  1. Break graham crackers in half and place on a microwave-safe plate or a baking sheet.
  2. Top half the grahams with marshmallows and the other half with chocolate.
  3. Warm in the oven or microwave, it only takes a minute or so!
  4. Press the two halves together to make a sandwich.
  5. Enjoy right away, while warm and melty, OR let the chocolate re-harden for a cookie-like experience!

Tips

  • I’ve found different types of chocolate and marshmallows cook at different rates. I usually just put them all in the oven at the same time because it’s easy, but if you want your chocolate melted to a specific consistency, it’s sometimes easiest to warm the chocolate sides and the marshmallow sides separately so one doesn’t melt faster than the other.
  • While you’d assume these are best fresh out of the oven, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the cooled ones were after the melted chocolate had covered the marshmallow and then hardened. Kind of like a cookie!

Frequently Asked Questions

I can’t find peppermint marshmallows. Will regular ones work?

Of course! They just don’t have that extra kick of peppermint.

Can I make a large batch of these ahead of time?

You totally can. The chocolate will re-harden and they’ll be more like a cookie. Different, but delish!

Can I use mini marshmallows instead of large ones?

Yes! The large marshmallows melt more evenly and give that classic gooey center. If you’re using mins, pile several together so they melt into one layer.

What add-in ideas do you have to make these extra special?

Try adding crushed peppermint candy canes on top of the marshmallow or chocolate, or a drizzle of white chocolate peppermint bark on top of the graham cracker.

Total Time 6 minutes
Servings8 servings; easily adjustable!

Ingredients

  • 8 chocolate graham cracker sheets
  • 8 peppermint marshmallows
  • 8 Squares peppermint bark

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400℉ (OR if you prefer, you can pop these in the microwave)
  • Break graham crackers in half and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet
  • Tip: Because different brands of marshmallows and peppermint bark melt at different paces, you may consider melting the half your grahams with peppermint bark first, removing them, and then warming the halves with marshmallows by themselves. Then sandwich them together perfectly heated.
Place a square of peppermint bark on half the graham crackers and a marshmallow (or multiple marshmallows) on the other halves.
  • Place in the preheated oven for 30 seconds- 1 minute, more if needed, for chocolate to melt at least partially and marshmallows to puff up.
  • Sandwich the halves together and enjoy!

Questions & Reviews

  1. when I saw this post the other day I thought what fun would that be to take to my kids NJROTC social this friday….. happen to be at Walmart and picked up the marshmallows got the peppermint bark…… but then I come home and now I’m reading where it says to eat immediately….. any chance that this might hold up for an hour or two once cooked? I get that they won’t be all warm and mushy but do you think its possible? I need to be able to make like 50 of them transport them to the school where they will set a buffet table until they are allowed to be eaten

    1. They would still be good, just different, more like a cookie, you know? You can’t go wrong with s’mores. Well, you probably could, but it’s hard. 🙂

  2. I’ve never been a big marshmallow fan, but I love peppermint and chocolate (everyone else in my family hates it – more for me) and well, smores is just a whole ‘nother level of yumminess.

  3. You guys are worth an extra click to the website. I am glad you are finding ways to keep cheaters away. 🙂
