This is one of the very first recipes I shared on OurBestBites.com back in 2008! I had gone out to lunch with my husband and grandma at a cafe in Utah where I ordered a similar sandwich and wanted to try making it at home. Mine is flavor-packed with my favorite sandwich spread and layered with cheese, smoked turkey, fresh tomato and tangy artichokes. It’s great on its own, or paired with your favorite soup!

Ingredients Needed
- Sturdy rustic sourdough bread – something from the bakery section is usually great. You want something soft and chewy, but sturdy enough to hold up to grilling. It doesn’t have to be sourdough, though that’s my favorite!
- Mayo or my Garlic Herb Sandwich Spread – obviously I prefer the flavor from my punched up sandwich spread, but regular mayo would work in a pinch.
- Good quality smoked or oven roasted sliced turkey
- Tomato
- Marinated artichoke hearts
- Mild white cheese – like havarti or swiss

How to make a grilled turkey and artichoke sandwich
- Spread both sliced of bread with mayo or sandwich spread.
- Layer slices of cheese on each half.
- Add turkey, artichokes and tomatoes to one slice and crack some black pepper on top.
- Place halves together and grill in a buttered skillet or panini press until golden brown.

Smoked Turkey and Artichoke Panini
Ingredients
- 2 slices rustic sourdough bread
- 3 tabelspoons mayonnaise or garlic herb sandwich spread or however much you need for your bread!
- 4 slices mild white cheese havarti, swiss or provolone
- 1 tomato sliced
- black pepper
- marinated artichoke hearts
- butter or olive oil for toasting
Instructions
- Spread each slice of bread with desired amount of mayo or sandwich spread.
- Top both slices with cheese
- Add turkey, layer tomatoes and sprinkle with pepper. Add artichokes and then close sandwich.
- Heat a panini press or a skillet to medium-low heat. You can drizzle the outside of your sandwich with olive oil, or spread butter, or if using a skillet, you can generously butter your skillet. Toast each side of sandwich until golden brown and cheese is melted.

Meggan- I just took out the link because that post is actually not here any more! Sorry for the confusion!
oh wow! Those sandwhiches were amazing! My husband loved them. We paired it with the Creamy Tomato soup which was also amazing and the combination was perfect. We have tried several recipes from your blog now and every single one has been awesome! My husband trusts any recipe that comes off your site! : )

I just made this the other day and it was sooooo good! We don’t have a panini press, so I used our George Foreman and it worked perfectly. YUM!
I LOVE that sandwich from Paradise Bakery and will definitely have to try this one. Panini sandwiches are always soooo good–the melted cheese, the warm turkey, the crispy bread–all so good. I use a George Foreman, works great, although it’s a small one and I can only do one sandwich at a time.
I order this sandwich everytime I went to SLC to visit Jason. He lived right next to one, which was VERY convenient for our visits! By the way Sara…I hear you “know” Carly Bingham??? Jason and I grew up with her hubby Casey in SoCal. Small world!
I do not have one,but I found my George Foreman to be absolutely FABULOUS for me. It panini-fys sandwiches beautifully.
We tried your recipe tonight with sun-dried tomato turkey and Havarti and it was delish! I also used a Foreman grill and it worked great. Thanks for the great dinner idea!!
