Ingredients and Equipment Needed

This is just a preview of ingredients and method, keep scrolling for full printable recipe.

  • Strawberries
  • Chocolate hazelnut spread – Such as Nutella.
  • Cream cheese – Regular or light are fine. Avoid fat-free, as it will result in a funny texture.
  • Powdered sugar
  • Caramel sauce
  • Kosher salt
  • Piping supplies – You’ll need 3 piping bags and a piping tip. I’m using a Wilton 1M tip here.

How to Make Stuffed Strawberries

  1. Wash and dry your strawberries. Carefully cut each strawberry from the tip until you almost reach the stem. If you want, you can cut in the opposition direction, forming an “X” (this can help with smaller berries). Set the berries aside, stem-side up.
  2. Whip together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, caramel sauce, and kosher salt until light and fluffy, then spoon the mixture into a small decorating bag. In another small decorating bag, place the 1/2 cup of chocolate hazelnut spread.
  3. Flatten out each bag and place them on top of each other, then snip off about 1″ of the bags. Place the two flattened bags inside another decorating bag fitted with a large Wilton tip (like 1M). Squeeze the bag just enough so both of the fillings are coming out at the same time. (For detailed directions with pictures on this process, check out this post.)
  4. Carefully place the tip into the bottom of each cut strawberry and squeeze the filling into each berry being careful not to overfill. Serve immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these ahead of time?

These are best stuffed and served right away. But you could definitely mix up the filling and stuff your piping bags a day in advance. I just recommend letting it sit out for 20 minutes or so to come up to room temp before piping. If you must stuff the strawberries ahead, do it as close your serving time as possible. If you need to travel with them and can’t stuff them at your destination, pack them tightly so they will hold each other in place.

Can I add toppings?

Sure! A drizzle of chocolate and/or some crushed nuts or toffee bits would be great!

What size strawberries work best?

Large, firm strawberries are the easiest to cut and fill. Avoid over-ripe berries, which soften quickly.

  • These are best prepped and served right away. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy within 2-3 days for best results.
  • Cream cheese is perishable. If you’re serving these for an event, don’t leave them out of the fridge for more than 2 hours.

Questions & Reviews

  1. Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes! Not that I needed much help using up my Nutella… But I will take it!

  2. My Wilton 1M just got eaten by the garbage disposal two days ago! I was completely distraught when my husband asked me what the metal thing was that he fished out of the disposal. Have you seen the new chocolate spreads trying to rival Nutella? The cream cheese strawberries from your first book are definitely delicious, and these look equally delicious!

  3. do you know where to buy that Jif spread? sounds AMAZING! I want to try it even if strawberries around involved!

  4. These are too cute! I would devour everyone of these filled with Nutella, and they’re mostly strawberries right, so I wouldn’t fill guilty at all 🙂
